Children’s Dance School “Zelenika”

Club for Traditional Dances and Games “Zelenika” was established on May 2, 2022. “Zelenika” is one of the few clubs in the country that preserves the traditional Bulgarian dance in its authentic form, as it has been passed down by our ancestors. Drawing knowledge from archives and community figures, the club revives forgotten dance patterns from Bulgarian folk dance traditions. Alongside it is the newly founded Children’s Dance School, which adheres to principles of maintaining physical well-being, learning authentic dance styles from different regions, and performing them with excellence on stage.

The club’s founder, Yani Angelov, is a professional Bulgarian folk dancer who graduated from the “Filip Kutev” National School of Folklore Arts in Kotel in 2017. In 2021, he earned a master’s degree in Art Management as a choreographer-educator from the Academy of Music, Dance, and Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” in Plovdiv. To this day, he performs with the Strandzha Professional Folklore Ensemble in Burgas, teaches his craft, and serves as a guest choreographer for dance productions in various ensembles across the country.

Rehearsals for the children’s school take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 PM in the building of the International Youth Center – Burgas.
