The YIC – Burgas team successfully completed a series of trainings

YIC – Burgas continues to improve the skills of its team through active participation in the trainings organized within the framework of the “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Improved Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups” Program, which aims to increase the capacity of employees in all youth centers in the country .

With these last educational meetings, our youth workers and educational mediators were able to acquire the full range of knowledge necessary for the “youth work kitchen”. This covers topics such as “Roles and functions of youth workers”, “Youth studies”, “Working with underprivileged groups”, “Intercultural sensitivity”, “Development of training programs” and many others.

Their guides in the whole endeavor were the “star” trainers from the Council of Europe – Jaffer, Maggie, Nat and Steph, who shared good practices and introduced the teams to the values of youth work.

During the fourth module, they guided our attention to three new areas of competence  – “Resource Management”, “Civic Engagement” and “Targeting and Evaluation”, and also gave a platform to each of us to express ourselves by conducting the so-called “Skills Market”. In parallel with the training, they also organized a meeting of the National Network of Youth Centers, during which its future activity was discussed.

At the end of the last module, the teams of the youth centers were awarded with certificates for the acquired knowledge and skills, which were handed to them personally by Natalia Miteva, Deputy Minister of Education and Science.

The International Youth Center is implemented under the project “Creation of the Burgas International Youth Center”, which is implemented with the financial support of the “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Improved Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups” program of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM ) 2014-2021.
