Club for Traditional Dances and Games “Zelenika”

Club for Traditional Dances and Games “Zelenika” was founded on May 2, 2022.
“Zelenika” is one of the few clubs in the country that preserves the traditional Bulgarian dance exactly as it was passed down to us by our ancestors, drawing knowledge from archives and folk experts and reviving forgotten dance patterns from our folk dance heritage!

The club also includes a newly established children’s dance school, where the focus is on maintaining a healthy and strong body, learning authentic regional dance styles, and presenting them with quality stage performance.

The founder of the club is Yani Angelov. He graduated as a professional Bulgarian folk dancer from NUFI “Filip Kutev” in Kotel in 2017 and, in 2021, completed a Master’s degree in “Art Management” as a choreographer-pedagogue at AMTII “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” in Plovdiv. To this day, he works as a performer with the State Folklore Ensemble “Strandzha” in Burgas, teaches in his specialty, and serves as a guest choreographer for various dance ensembles across the country.

Rehearsals for the adult group are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays at 7:00 PM, and for the children’s group — every Saturday at 2:00 PM, in the building of the Youth International Center – Burgas.
