YIC-Burgas celebrated the International Day for Ethnic Tolerance

We celebrated March 21 – the International Day for Ethnic Tolerance! We experienced an unforgettable day, discovering the cultural richness around us, gaining new perspectives, and proving that respect and continuity build a stronger society.

The event, held under the theme “Bridges of Tolerance,” brought together students from Naiden Gerov Primary School, Petko Rosen Secondary School, and Konstantin Petkanov Secondary School. They had the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse traditions and customs by exploring several themed “rooms” – Bulgarian, Roma, Turkish, and Ukrainian. There, they engaged in fun challenges and creative activities, allowing them not only to learn more about different cultures but also to feel the spirit of tolerance through music, dance, and traditional crafts. The atmosphere was filled with smiles and enthusiasm, and all participants proved that our differences enrich us and can bring us closer together.

The event concluded with an awards ceremony, recognizing all participants for their active involvement and contributions. Prizes were awarded as follows: first place to Konstantin Preslavski Secondary School, second place to Naiden Gerov Primary School, and third place to Petko Rosen Secondary School. Regardless of the rankings, everyone left with valuable lessons, awards, new friendships, and a deep sense of unity in diversity!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this celebration of understanding and unity – the Student Council of Burgas State University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” and representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in Burgas!
