Burgas Municipality has already selected an area in Meden Rudnik district to build the International Youth Center

An online press conference was held on February 12, 2021, introducing the International Youth Center in Burgas. The project is implemented under the “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Enhanced Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups” Program, funded by the 2014–2021 European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (EEA FM).

The press conference was attended by government officials and representatives from already established Youth Centers in Bulgaria.

During the online meeting, the IYC team outlined the project’s main priorities and presented “CREARCH” architectural studio and its building design.

The International Youth Center will be situated in the largest residential area of the city, “Meden Rudnik”. The 1,800 m2 built-up area will consist of various premises, some of which include a large multifunctional hall, a children’s playground, smart offices, recreation areas, and a cafeteria.

The construction is expected to be completed by March 2022. IYC’s staff will be hired and trained several months prior to the official opening. With preliminary fieldwork, information campaigns, and informal meetings, the youth workers will strive to establish the Center’s image as the place where young people (aged 15 to 29) can freely express themselves and participate in various activities.

Deputy Mayor Yordanka Ananieva emphasized the importance of this project for Burgas’s Municipality, highlighting the implementation of regional, national, and international exchanges.

Also during the online press conference, IYC’s team announced a contest for a logo design. Details can be found at: https://www.burgas.bg/bg/novini/badeshtiyat-dom-na-burgaskite-mladezhi-tarsi-svoeto-originalno-logo/
