Young people renovated the yard of a Kinder garden in Aitos as part of our youth initiative contest

The second initiative of the contest for youth projects “Youth Can” has been successfully completed. A group of young people transformed the yard area of the “Kalina Malina” kindergarten in Aytos, creating a cozy and colorful environment for children.

The 19-year-old Maria Boncheva was a leader of the project implementation, she was also the one to fill out and submit the application form describing her idea.

The initiative included painting the fence and all the play structures, planting flowers along the borders, cleaning, and refreshing the courtyard.

On September 8, just days before the start of the school year, a group of volunteers entered the kindergarten and completed the work in a matter of hours. Besides the renovated facilities and the welcoming appearance of the yard, the young people realized the purpose of the initiative: being part of a socially significant cause is a responsibility to oneself and others. For many of the young people this was their first volunteering experience, and Maria Boncheva’s initiative showed them an entirely new path for self-improvement.

The organization and logistics of the youth initiative would not have gone so smoothly without the participation of the educational mediator at the Youth International Center, Anelia Asenova. Together with the mediators from Aytos, Mariyana Zurbova and Gyulten Asenova, Anelia participated in the mentoring process and the realization of the idea. We also thank the management of “Kalina Malina” kindergarten for their positive attitude!

This endeavor is the second successfully completed youth project from the competition of International Youth Centre – Burgas, whose main goal is to create conditions for positive change and active citizenship in young people. The implementation of such initiatives always affects the entire community, and strengthens confidence in making decisions for the future.

This initiative is part of the Contest for Youth Initiatives “Youth Can!” for 2023-2024.

Project No. BGLD-2.001-0002 “Establishment of the Youth International Center – Burgas,”  is implemented under the “Local Development, Poverty Reduction, and Enhanced Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups” program, funded by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) 2014-2021.
