For the second year in a row, YIC-Burgas and YIC-Vratsa joined forces and turned the halls of the International Youth Center into a vibrant stage of adventure, imagination, and learning. The three-day DnD Academy brought together young people from different cities across
Bulgaria, driven by their love for role-playing games and their desire to develop new skills.
This year’s program once again featured familiar faces – among them Momchil Vasilev, Marieta Zhivkova, and Chavdar Genov. They guided participants not only through the world of Dungeons & Dragons, but also toward skills with real-life applications: teamwork,
strategic thinking, creativity, and effective communication.
Day One began with smiles, icebreakers, and energizers that instantly broke down barriers between participants. Georgi Spiridonov and Momchil provided a smooth introduction to the magic of tabletop role-playing games, while Chavdar (“Chocho”) revealed the secrets of
character creation. The evening concluded with a hands-on workshop where everyone crafted their own characters, followed by an engaging game show that sparked plenty of laughter and friendly competition.
Day Two was marked by a demonstration game, in which experienced players showcased what a full-scale DnD session looks like. The audience followed every move with bated breath, asked questions, and even joined in the adventure. The day wrapped up with a recap
that helped everyone reflect on what they had learned.
Day Three was dedicated entirely to immersive play. During one-shot adventures, participants stepped into the roles of their characters and put into practice everything they had absorbed so far. The atmosphere was both intense and exhilarating – every move mattered, and each
decision was an opportunity for creativity and collaboration.
The Academy concluded with a group reflection session. Participants shared what they had gained – from public speaking skills and creativity to teamwork, empathy, and critical thinking. They also discussed how these lessons can be applied in school, university, and their
future professional paths. The event ended with the awarding of certificates and a promise to reunite next year in the world of DnD.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the organizers, guests, and all participants for their energy and inspiration!
