The Student committee of the Municipality of Burgas voted their leadership

The Student Committee of Burgas Municipality has elected its leadership. Ivana Stoyanova from PMG “Acad. Nikola Obreshkov” was chosen as the Chairperson of the Student Committee of Burgas Municipality (UKOB), Simeon Simeonov from PGEE “Konstantin Fotinov” was elected as Deputy Chairperson, and Eva Kotseva from PGCE “Vasil Levski” was appointed as Secretary.

The newly elected leadership emphasized the importance of the student voice in decision-making processes and pledged to work towards increasing civic engagement among young people.

During its one-year mandate, the new UKOB Board will focus on actively involving students in the municipality’s social and educational processes, organizing initiatives to improve the school environment, and strengthening cooperation between student councils across the city.

The election took place via a secret ballot during one of the regular meetings of student councils held at the International Youth Center – Burgas. The event was organized by Karina Traykova, the Student Ombudsman of Burgas Municipality, and Malena Petrova, Deputy Ombudsman, with the support of experts from the Directorate of Education and Youth Policies and youth workers from the International Youth Center. All transparency requirements for the voting process were met.

The event was officially opened by the Deputy Mayor for Education, Healthcare, Social Affairs, and Youth Policies, Mihail Nenov, who welcomed the students and wished the newly elected leadership of UKOB a productive term.

The UKOB Board consists of three positions: Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, and Secretary. A total of five candidates from various high schools in Burgas ran for these positions: Alexander Stoilov from PGSAG “Kolio Ficheto”, Konstantin Georgiev from the Vocational School of Transport – Burgas, Ivana Stoyanova from PMG “Acad. Nikola Obreshkov”, Simeon Simeonov from PGEE “Konstantin Fotinov”, and Eva Kotseva from PGCE “Vasil Levski”. Each candidate presented their individual vision for the future of the organization and their plans for the development of student self-governance.
