On 27 February International Youth Center – Burgas hosted the elections for a new Committee board of the student council to the Municipality of Burgas. This was one of the most significant events in the calendar of student self-governance in the city. The election of the new leadership was accompanied by an official handover of the mandate from the outgoing Board.
The process was marked by heightened interest and active engagement from representatives of various schools in the city. The meeting stood out for its open debate and clearly articulated positions, as the candidates presented their visions, priorities, and strategic directions for the development of the student community in Burgas. Concrete ideas were introduced for building upon already implemented initiatives, as well as proposals for expanding young people’s participation in public processes at local, national, and European levels.
As part of the event, the annual activity report of the Student Committee to the Municipality of Burgas for the past mandate was also presented. It summarized the implemented projects, campaigns, and events, as well as the results achieved. Particular emphasis was placed on successful partnerships with institutions and organizations, along with the active role of the student community in the public life of the Municipality of Burgas.
Following the vote, Konstantin Georgiev from the High School of Transport was elected Chairperson of the new Committee board of the student council. Irina Chokoeva was elected Vice-Chairperson, and Ivan Karchev assumed the position of Secretary. The newly elected team takes on the responsibility of continuing the work to strengthen student self-governance and to develop new initiatives in support of young people in the city.
The organizers and hosts expressed their gratitude to all participants and supporters for their commitment, active stance, and responsible approach to the process of electing student representation. They extended their wishes to the new leadership for a successful and productive mandate, filled with sustainable initiatives, constructive dialogue, and inspiring achievements for the benefit of the student community in Burgas.
