International Youth Center held its first billiards tournament for young amateurs

International Youth Center held its first billiards tournament for young amateurs. 16 people took part in the competition: 15 boys and a brave young lady – Nia Obretenova from PGR “G. S. Rakovski” – Burgas. In addition to the youngsters, John and Elaine Daglish, a married couple from Newcastle, also took part in the tournament. They demonstrated impressive skills in the game and advised the youngsters. The generational gap was quickly narrowed, and through friendly conversations during the matches, the Brits gained young people’s respect.

The opponents in the first matches were determined by draw. After the first games the participants were divided into two streams – those who won and lost, playing double elimination. After 26 matches in total the winners of both groups faced each other for a final game

In the end, after an extremely close last match, the big winner in the tournament became Martin Kunev at the age of 15, student of PGMEE – Burgas. He grabbed first place, not conceding a single loss! The second place went to Yani Boev, a student from “Acad. Nikola Obreshkov”. Next in the big four ranked Nikola Nikolov from PGRE “G. S. Rakovski” and Martin Marenov from PGCHE “Vasil Levski”. The champions took home diplomas and gifts from International Youth Center – Burgas as a reward for the motivation and the skills shown!

The young people expressed their desire to participate in further events and billiards competitions, as they want to develop their community, with peers keen on this sport.

We thank HotShot Billiard Club for their cooperation, warm welcome and the opportunity to hold the tournament at their facility.
