Our first edition of a master class in floristry for young amateurs took place on the 28th of April, as part of the 38th National Flower Exhibition “Flora Burgas”. The event was in tune with the city’s long-standing traditions in the field of ecology and landscaping. It aimed to develop young people’s interest in the creative art of floral arrangements.
Guest lecturer at the event was florist-artist Nina Yotovska-Harangi, whose professional career began more than 20 years ago with a specialty in “Floristics” in Hungary. This gradually lead to the creation of her own flower boutique in Bulgaria. Under her leadership, 20 young people went through the basic theory and practicalities that come with floral art.
The theoretical module introduced young people to the basic laws of composition, types of distribution of material, symmetry and proportions of flower arrangements. We also explored colour schemes, proportions of colours, as well as comprehensive information, related to tools and flower care.
Within the practical module, after a visual demonstration by the lecturer, each of the participants had the opportunity to create a flower arrangement. They were tailored to the spring season, as well as the environment that was surrounding us. The materials for the bouquets were specially selected by Mrs. Harangi.
We want to say thank you to the participants for their enthusiasm and curiousity, thanks to the Nina Harangi for the great experience, as well as our hosts from the Flora Burgas Exhibition Center. We can’t wait to see you again at the second edition of the master class this fall!
