YIC – Burgas united diversity with “Bango Vasil – soul and rhythm”

One of our most colorful events, which went under the title “Bango Vasil – soul and rhythm”, ended more than successfully! The event involved dozens of young people who were able to exchange cultural experiences and learn about the traditions of several different ethnic groups.

We like to unite, share the joy and the beauty of different cultures, so the day passed in a positive and creative atmosphere. The highlight of the program was the celebration of the Roma New Year. We organized a discussion panel during which we presented the traditions of welcoming the holiday and learned the legends surrounding the person named Bango Vasil.

We paid attention to the history of the Roma people and their path over the years, we also got to know the different groups that unite their community – Kardarashians, Burgodians and others. We did not forget to get to know the language as well, translating words and reciting Romani poems. And as New Year’s tradition dictates, we broke special bread for health and prosperity.

In addition, we presented the traditional songs and dances of all cultural groups. Our event ended with a marvelous concert with the participation of the young talents from dance group “Iglika”, the village of Gabar, as well as the wonderful Ukrainians from “Lol Dance”.
